Hi Members,
It’s hard to believe that we are already half way through the year. The leaves have changed colours, the cold weather has set in, Winter has arrived. My favourite winter activity is putting the heater on, getting cosy on the couch and reading a book or watching a movie. June means it is almost time to renew your membership and making sure you have all your professional development points. Diana and Jodie have been busy in the office getting everything ready for renewals.
The board have been hard at work on lots of different projects. The conference planning is coming along well. We have extended the deadline to submit abstracts, so you still have some time if you would like to present a paper or poster. You also still have time to take advantage of the early bird special for conference, and being our 10-year anniversary we are planning something very special for the cocktail party. How wonderful it would be to celebrate our 10 years with a huge crowd of members that have supported us from the beginning. Myself and the board would love to see as many people as possible there!
We also have been working hard on both National Credentialing and International Certification. While we are still working out all the finer details and will have more to announce in the coming months (and at conference), I can let you all know that when you renew your membership this July, you will automatically be Nationally Credentialed. You won’t have to do anything, there will be not cost. This is to reward all our members who have continued with their professional development and supported the DRTA with their membership as we move onto a new phase of National Credentialing. The board have also been working to build a working relationship with the NCTRC and hope to soon be able to offer a pathway for those wanting to hold international certification through the NCTRC. Keep an eye out for more information on both in the coming months.
Kim, VP2 and Kayla Vic state rep, have been hard at work representing DRTA and our members at NACA and making sure our voices are heard at the Age Care Royal Commission. Look out for an update from both Kim and Kayla in the coming months.
I’m going to wrap it up for this month and keep it short and sweet.
Till next month,
Kylie Rice
President
