Networking Groups

The purpose of networks groups is to foster peer support amongst Recreational Therapist’s and activities officers and provide peer level information exchange. Access to ARTA network groups are a membership benefit of Australian Recreational Therapy Association (ARTA). By attending network groups, members are able to use the ideas, skills, knowledge and resources of those members on a regular basis.

Only financial members of Australian Recreational Therapy Association are eligible to attend network groups.

The list of ARTA Network Groups can be found here – find the closest one to you and get in touch – they will warmly welcome a new member!

Degree Qualified Member

A member must hold an accepted university qualification as specified and defined by the DRTA Board and in the current policy. DRTA recognises only these members as Diversional Therapists.

Diploma Qualified Member

A member must hold an accepted vocational level Diploma qualification as specified and defined by the DRTA Board and in the current policy. DRTA recognises these members work under a variety of titles including DT Coordinator, Therapeutic Recreation Supervisor, Recreational Activities Coordinator and many more. DRTA advises that they do not work under the title Diversional Therapist, in keeping with other allied health professions which require a university qualification.

Cert IV Qualified Member

A member must hold an accepted vocational Cert IV qualification as specified and defined by the DRTA Board and in the current policy. DRTA recognises these members work under a variety of titles including DT Assistant, Therapeutic Recreation Assistant, Leisure and Health Support Worker, Recreational Activities Officer and many more. DRTA advises that they do not work under the title Diversional Therapist, in keeping with other allied health professions which require a university qualification.

Life Member

DRTA recognises and honours the Life Memberships registered with DRTA in 2009. These members are Full DRTA Members who have been honoured with Life Membership status by the state bodies in existence before 2009 at the commencement of the national body. These members have contributed enormously to the development and eventual creation of the national body over decades of extraordinary voluntary work to better the profession. They have been honoured with individual Certificates of Life Membership from DRTA. There are no plans to create further Life Members of DRTA.
