Diversional Therapist/ Recreational Therapist
Permanent Full-Time position
Crowley Care, a Residential Aged Care facility situated in the coastal town of Ballina NSW, has an exciting opportunity for the role of a Diversional Therapist/ Recreational Therapist.
You would be joining an established Leisure and Lifestyle team to lead them and our Leisure and Lifestyle program in the promotion of our resident’s social, physical, cognitive and emotional well-being through the planning, organising, implementation and evaluation of our resident recreational programs.
The Offer
- Immediate Start
- Monday to Friday – 9AM to 5.30PM, with some flexibility
- $38.19 to $42.73 per hour, dependent on experience, plus super
- Salary package up to $18,550 per annum – resulting in less tax and higher take home pay for you
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, develop and conduct recreational programs for both groups and individual residents which are tailored to resident interests, needs and capabilities.
- Work closely alongside the other care professionals within Crowley to provide and foster a holistic model of care
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the lifestyle program, adjusting based on the evolving needs of our residents
- Prepare comprehensive lifestyle assessments for each resident
- Manage, coach and inspire the lifestyle team to deliver meaningful lifestyle activities
- Manage community partnership activities and seek out opportunities for community engagement
- Maintain accurate assessments and documentation of participation
- Ensure accreditation status is maintained, as well as compliance with all legislative requirements
- Foster genuine and positive relationships with residents, their families, staff, and volunteers

About You
- Bachelor’s degree of Health Science (Leisure and Health or Recreational Therapy) or Applied Science (Diversional Therapy)
- Prior experience in a Diversional Therapist/ Recreational Therapist position, or a similar role, is desirable
- Demonstrated understanding of Leisure and Lifestyle programming
- Experience in delivering person-centred care in line with the Aged Care Standards
- Previous experience in the aged care industry and with dementia support
- Excellent communication skills with a collaborative team-oriented approach
- A willingness to learn and a commitment to continual improvement in service delivery
- Ability to work flexible hours to ensuring coverage of all lifestyle activities
- Ability to use technology and MS Office
