National Workshop Programme, News and Updates with Steph – 5 August 2016

With our Cairns workshop a week away from when I am writing this update we have had a relatively quiet month for the DTA workshops around the country. (Look out for the Cairns report in our next newsletter).

Things are set to warm up though with requests for workshops specifically designed for leisure and lifestyle staff being rolled out with a number of facilities taking up the educational opportunities of a workshop built around their specific needs, being planned. If your facility has a number of leisure and lifestyle staff, why not propose to them this great learning opportunity addressing the specific interest and needs of your team and which can work out at a substantial financial saving making the training even more worthwhile. See the workshops available below and make an enquiry today and let me provide you with a specialised proposal addressing your teams specific learning needs!

The Port Macquarie, NSW workshop on the 19th of August is our next regional workshop coming up and will look at services in that area as well as provide great networking opportunities. Register now to reserve your place.

Our Warrnambool Vic workshop on Monday the 5th of September is also going to be a great opportunity to learn and touch base with others working in the area.Remember if you’d like to present at a workshop on a topic you are interested in or passionate about you can gain all your PD points in one go! The Takeaway Café handout and short 10-minute presentation may be a nice way to ease yourself into presenting to your peers and also get you your PD points for the year- Enquire now by contacting me via email stephania@diversionaltherapy.org.au

NEW WORKSHOP TOPICS AVAILABLE

DTA’s educational suite of workshops has recently expanded:

CST Workshop

DTA offer a one-day workshop on the successful implementation of Cognitive Stimulation Therapy for people with mild to moderate dementia. Learn the system that has had proven benefits on cognition, social interaction and general wellbeing that is revolutionising the outcomes of dementia diagnosis. On completion you will have the tools to set up and run the initial and ongoing programs, accommodating the specific interests of your group, as well as how to measure and evaluate the outcomes. Ongoing support is available in the setting up and running of your group as needed. Contact enquiries@diversionaltherapy.org.au for more information.

Leisure and Lifestyle in Practice

An individualised workshop specifically formulated for your facility, staff and or client base. When your team needs direction we revisit the basics and build on their knowledge including assessment and communication skills, presentation, engagement and inclusion, evaluation of the program and a multitude of activity ideas that can inspire. Need a specific outcome addressed? A program of continuous improvement can be tailored to your needs. Contact DTA today to discuss designing a training session specifically for you.

I’m looking forward to meeting you at one of our workshops and I’m always looking for new ideas and information! If you come across anything that you have found useful and relevant I am more than happy to investigate getting it to a workshop near you!

Please email me at stephania@diversionaltherapy.org.au if you would like to contribute, suggest a presenter, present a Takeaway CAFÉ or would like to facilitate a workshop! I’m waiting to hear from you!

I’ll leave you with this snippet of motivation- “It’s never too late to become what you might have been” -George Eliot
