Conference Workshop- Register NOW!
This year’s Activities, Activities, Activities workshop on the 5th of October, the day before the 2-day Brisbane 2017 DRTA Conference is set to be the best one yet. The Workshop gives you the opportunity to get some very practical experience and ideas to take back with you to your workplace. Attending the workshop is a great lead into Conference – having made and met some new friends on that first day and through “getting your hands dirty” together whilst getting practical experience in preparing and facilitating some amazing activities, you are then ready for some serious Conference Professional Development in the company of some great people!! Contact the office or go on line to register now!
All activities and the resources to do them are included in the workshop price as well as the Takeaway Café Booklet #4 that describes each of the activities that you will do on the day. Don’t miss out on this great day of fun, friends and fascination as we work through 10-14 activities- including a revised Laughter Yoga session and some guest appearances from some of our Takeaway Café contributors. So do yourself a BIG favour and register today for the workshop if you are coming to Conference and if you can only do one day then make it the workshop day- you won’t regret it!
Workshop Write Up
With CST training in Adelaide this month as well as a number of facilities taking advantage of the in-house training and the reduced costs when facilities request a workshop it is fantastic to see the spreading of the benefits of Cognitive Stimulation Therapy around the country. Our upcoming proposed CST workshops are up on the website. Check out the list at http://diversionaltherapy.org.au/Event-Calendar for a workshop near you. We are limiting numbers so register early to learn this evidence based practice that benefits not only the person with mild to moderate dementia but looks at the benefits for everyone of staying cognitively and socially active. You can also continue to register your individual interest by going through the DRTA website, clicking on the CST Training tab at the top and completing your details.
If you have several DT’s, Leisure and Lifestyle staff, RAOs or assistants across your facility or facilities that may like to learn this therapy and its implementation to people with Mild to Moderate dementia then contact me to receive a proposal letting you know cost and further details. While the training is based on diversional therapy principles staff from other departments of your facility may benefit from attending making the discount a substantial reduction. See photos below of staff at Arcare Epping in Victoria attending and participating in the CST training provided in house. Up to 18 attendees can learn the therapy and the CST principle for one set price when your facility organises the training directly with DRTA. Contact the DRTA office or email me directly at stephania@diversionaltherapy.org.au to discuss bringing the training to your workplace.
You may still be able to register for the Hamilton workshops- CST on the 25th of August and general Professional Development workshop on the 28th August. Go on line for the details and see you there.
