The National Workshop Program is integral to the professional development of our members, to the recognition of our profession, the growth of our association and a great opportunity to visit regional Australia and those who usually work in isolation.

May 2016 saw the Orange NSW workshop and DTA’s first Skype presentation bringing essential information to those who often miss out. Our dedicated members, who always attend this training, are an inspiration and are proof that their membership and the acquisition of qualifications and ongoing learning and development, is the way forward as government regulations and quality reviews continue to look for continuous improvement to our roles and quality of care. Attendance at workshops and DTA membership can give you a professional edge.

The next few months sees workshops in Shepparton Vic, Port Broughton SA, Cairns QLD and Port Macquarie NSW. Why not go to a regional workshop near you! Remember costs associated with professional development in the area in which you are employed are tax deductible! So take a long weekend and head to one of our regional workshops, see some of our beautiful country, feel reinspired in your role through education and networking and support our regional centres all while taking a well-earned break – win – win!!

NEW WORKSHOP TOPICS AVAILABLE

DTA’s educational suite of workshops has recently expanded:

CST Workshop
DTA offer a one-day workshop on the successful implementation of Cognitive Stimulation Therapy for people with mild to moderate dementia. Learn the system that has had proven benefits on cognition, social interaction and general wellbeing that is revolutionising the outcomes of dementia diagnosis. On completion you will have the tools to set up and run the initial and ongoing programs, accommodating the specific interests of your group, as well as how to measure and evaluate the outcomes. Ongoing support is available in the setting up and running of your group as needed. Contact enquiries@diversionaltherapy.org.au for more information.

Leisure and Lifestyle in Practice
An individualised workshop specifically formulated for your facility, staff and or client base. When your team needs direction we revisit the basics and build on their knowledge including assessment and communication skills, presentation, engagement and inclusion, evaluation of the program and a multitude of activity ideas that can inspire. Need a specific outcome addressed? A program of continuous improvement can be tailored to your needs. Contact DTA today to discuss designing a training session specifically for you.

I look forward to meeting you at one of our workshops and I’m always looking for new ideas and information! If you come across anything that you have found useful and relevant I am more than happy to investigate getting it to a workshop near you! Email stephania@diversionaltherapy.org.au if you would like to contribute, suggest a presenter, present a Takeaway CAFÉ or would like to facilitate a workshop! I’m waiting to hear from you!

I hope you all stay well and happy until next month and remember- “There are no shortcuts to any place worth going.” – Beverly Sills
