From the 11th – 17th May, we celebrated Diversional Therapy Week – a week where Diversional Therapy is put into the spotlight. Throughout the week, emails were sent out to all staff in the hospital, which highlighted key aspects about Diversional Therapy such as what Diversional Therapy is and its philosophy, and the benefits and positive outcomes of activities that we provide for our clients. Included in our emails was a find-a-word that we created as a ‘brain challenging activity’ for staff with prizes as the reward for the effort.
The Day Centre opened its doors to our fellow colleagues from executives, allied health and nursing staff from the rehabilitation wards and outpatient departments, to attend an interactive afternoon tea. We had a display table with literature, information and resources. We also had three activities set up around the room for staff to participate in and experience the challenges and benefits for themselves – Everyone also enjoyed a delicious afternoon tea with home-made blue and yellow cupcakes!
A great and fun week that raised awareness about Diversional Therapy practice!
