2016 – Upcoming Japan Tour – Expressions of Interest being taken now!
During 2006 I was privileged to go on the study tour of Japan. It was a wonderful experience seeing the culture first hand. Takako thoughtfully put together a diverse tour incorporating aged care facilities which we were warmly welcomed to. The residents were pleased to meet and greet us often with artworks or joining in an activity.
We also experienced wonderful luncheons and restaurant meals that tickled our tastebuds. We attended symposiums which some of our delegates presented. Often the gathering would end in singing “Waltzing Matilda”, which we sang more than once. Our hosts are polite and welcoming, but after a fabulous meal, singing and Sake or plum wine, everyone is much easier to talk to and we made some lasting friendships. Many of the younger people speak English. Not only that, we also experienced some tourist destinations like Disneyland, temples, the fast train, visiting Osaka and Kyoto.
I can personally recommend this tour. You will learn much about how DT is performed in Japan and how enthusiastically it is carried out. You will also see how much Takako has done in growing this profession in Japan and how much DT work is valued. It is a wonderful cross cultural exchange. So start saving I cannot urge you enough how wonderful it will be.

Japan Tour 2016
Diversional Therapy Australia is liaising with Diversional Therapy Japan to
facilitate a study tour to Japan, proposed for 10 days in August 2016.
We are asking for expressions of interest from our members to give us some
idea of the support for such a tour.
Preliminary costings have been estimated at $2500.00 which covers
accommodation, food, internal travel between venues and some sightseeing.
This figure does not include airfares. Any extra days and spending money
required is at the members discretion.
DTA is trying to source funding to assist with the costs but this has not
been found as yet.
